The Ralf RangeStage 1:Well everyone here are the concept drawings and the first photos of the sculpt for the second of the figurines in the "Worlds End" range. Here you can see the concept drawings for a full figure model of "Ralf", one of the main protagonists of the "Worlds End" graphic novel. Following this are the initial Wax sculpt turnarounds, whereby the sculptor is getting a feel for the character. Concept Drawings for the Ralf Full Figure Figurine - Design and Artwork - Tim Perkins
Stage 2:The sculpt is by American sculptor supreme – Jeff Meckley, whose work has been seen amongst the war gaming fraternity for some years now and for toy companies such as Hasbro, amongst others. Tim first heard of the sculptor's work and spoke to Jeff for the first time, only a matter of a few weeks ago, following a trip to the Figurine manufacturers. This is the first of the full figure characters being produced for us here at Wizards Keep. This work in progress is very different from the Gweldar one, as far as sculpting technique is concerned, Sean sculpts with clay and Jeff sculpts with wax. The work of both these guys is incredible and we feel ourselves very lucky here at the Keep to have hired their wonderful talents. Ralf Body - Front POV - Sculpting - Jeff Meckley

The sculpt was finally coming together now with the above batch of photos. The next job for Jeff with Ralf was the detailing. Stage 6:With the next batch of photos that Jeff sent over we were able to most of the finished details. Ralf was looking every bit in 3D like Tim's vision in 2D. Sean Green, the sculptor of Gweldar, was so impressed he rang Tim to tell him so. That was before he has seen these next photographs. The fantastic detailing on the Dragon Skin waistcoat and his hair had us all talking here at the Keep. Everytime we looked again there was something new that we had not seen previously. Over the weekend of the Bristol International Comics Expo on May 10th and 11th the Figurines all went down a storm. We are sure you will agree with us this truly is a great addition to the Worlds End Figurines range and is a wonderful complementary model All that remains is to say a very BIG public thank you to Jeff Meckley, whose skills and professionalism enabled us to add Ralf to our Figurines range. Ralf will be available for pre-order soon. |
