Hall of Fame Section Latest Update4 January 2008 Secretary/Treasurer of the Jack Kirby Museum, Randolph Hoppe today confirmed in an international phone conversation with Tim that it would be great to see for Jack Kirby's name included in the Hall of Fame. Jack "King" Kirby, who gained the nick name "King" whilst working at Marvel Comics in the sixties, is famous for his hundreds of comics creations, such as, Captain America, The Challengers of the Unknown, The Fantastic Four, The Silver Surfer, The Incredible Hulk, The Mighty Thor The Uncanny X-Men, The New Gods, The Demon, Kamandi, The Eternals, and The Black Panther amongst many, many others, sadly passed away in 1994, but his legacy lives on in his work. The face of the comics industry was changed in the sixties by the pure inventiveness of the epic tales from the mind of the master storyteller, whose work spanned from the earliest days of the comic book industry in the United States. Cited by Tim as THE reason for him wanting to become a comic artist, Jack Kirby's work has been a major influence on his own storytelling and artwork. We believe, here at Wizards Keep, that with the addition of Jack's name to the Hall of Fame the honour is all ours. The content of the Hall of Fame is truly amazing and will be a testament to the field of comic books for the last sixty or so years and the fact that it is being endorsed by the creatives themselves, or posthumously by family members or the executors of their estates makes it all the more wonderful. Look for the launch, coming soon this January 2008… |
